An Indian court on Wednesday ordered life in prison for Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik for financing “terrorist” activities and other charges, a judge said, sparking street protests outside the politician’s residence.

An Indian court sentenced the illegally-detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, to life imprisonment in concocted cases to punish him for his leading role in the ongoing movement for Jammu and Kashmir’s freedom from Indian illegal occupation.

Special Judge of India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA), Praveen Singh, officially convicted Yasin Malik on May 19 in manifestly dubious and motivated cases registered against him over three decades ago and fixed a hearing for (May 25) today for announcing the quantum of the sentence.

Malik, head of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), earlier told a special court appointed by the National Investigation Agency that he had been following Gandhian principles and non-violent politics after laying down arms in the 1990s. 1990.

“Life sentence to convict, Yasin Malik,” Special Judge Parveen Singh said at the New Delhi court.

Malik’s wife, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, said the sentence was unlawful. “Verdict in minutes by an Indian kangaroo court,” he wrote on Twitter. “The iconic leader will never give up.”

Jammu & Kashmir was transformed into hell by the coordination of terrorists and the pampering of the successive governments. The “Heaven of Earth” was purposefully made hell by these terrorists. But, the strong and non-tolerating policies against terrorists by the Modi government have not only prevented the further rise of violence but have also brought the perpetrators of J&K under the might of the law.
